Manufacturing

Short-Run Manufacturing (20–2,000 units) — No Tooling Required

Launch and scale without injection moulds. Brisbane-based, Australia-wide. FDM in-house + PA12 nylon (MJF via partners). First-article fast, repeatable batches, AU-made.

DFAM → Prototype → Pilot → Production
A clear ladder from idea to repeatable batches.
Quality checked
First-article approval, AQL sampling, batch IDs.
Made in Australia
Fast turnarounds, local support, clear communication.
Heat-set brass insert being installed into a PETG part
From first-article to boxed batches — fast, repeatable, AU-made.

With 30+ FDM 3D printers in-house in SE Queensland, we turn approved CAD into parts fast: first-article in 2–5 business days, pilot batches (20–200) in 5–10, and production (200–2,000+) in 10–20. PETG is produced on our own farm, and PA12/PA11 nylon is delivered via local MJF partners. QA-checked, NDA-friendly, AU-made.

Who this is for

  • Startups & product designers needing bridge manufacturing before tooling
  • Industrial distributors/OEMs seeking white-label accessories or spares
  • Construction, electrical, HVAC, robotics/automation — brackets, housings, jigs, fixtures

Capabilities & materials

FDM (in-house)

  • Materials: PETG (standard), ASA/ABS on request, TPU 95A (flex)
  • Layer heights: 0.12–0.28 mm (0.20 mm production standard)
  • Best for: functional parts, outdoor tolerance (PETG/ASA), colour options, larger parts

MJF/SLS (partner network)

  • Materials: PA12 / PA11 nylon
  • Layers: ~80 μm; excellent strength & isotropy
  • Finishes: bead-blasted matte, dye black/grey available
  • Best for: rugged, repeatable end-use parts and dense nesting at volume

Tolerances, finishing & quality

Typical tolerances

  • FDM PETG: ±0.30 mm or ±0.5% (whichever is greater)
  • MJF PA12: ±0.20 mm or ±0.2% (typical)
  • Holes/press-fits can be reamed/tapped to nominal

Finishing & secondary ops

  • Heat-set brass inserts (M2–M6), tapping, light machining, bonding
  • Sub-assemblies, kitting, barcode/QR labelling
  • Dyeing (nylon), deburr/bead-blast (nylon), part marking

Quality & documentation

  • First-article approval before pilot runs
  • Dimensional spot checks (AQL-style) on batches
  • Batch IDs, revision control, retained samples for repeats

Lead times & logistics

  • Prototype: 2–5 business days
  • Pilot (20–200): 5–10 business days
  • Production (200–2,000+): 10–20 business days
  • Australia-wide courier shipping. Secure handling under NDA. Files deleted on request.

Indicative pricing (ex-GST)

Prototype — from $490

  • DFAM consult + design feedback
  • Up to 2 iterations
  • 3 PETG prototypes or 1 PA12 prototype
  • Basic dimensional check & photo report

Pilot (20–200)

  • First-article sign-off, batch ID, sampling QC
  • PETG: ~ $12–$55/ea
  • PA12: ~ $14–$65/ea

Production (200–2,000+)

  • Saved nests, repeatability, kitting & labels
  • PETG: ~ $9–$18/ea
  • PA12: ~ $10–$22/ea

Final quotes depend on geometry, material, finish, and QA level. Simple break-even tip: Tooling ÷ (3DP price − moulded price) ≈ units where moulding wins.
